Doctors Without Borders was founded in Paris on December 22, 1971, to help people after natural disasters and in war zones.

Doctors Without Borders, an organization founded in December 1971 by thirteen doctors and journalists intending to helping people in need and speaking on their behalf, was created intending to helping people in need and speaking on their behalf, irrespective of their political or religious views.

Their first mission in a conflict zone occurred during the Lebanese civil war, where doctors and nurses treated both sides in a hospital basement.

As it enters the winter of 2021, Doctors Without Borders operates in 70+ countries and has over 65,000 associates. The organization can be helpful in a number of ways: they provide expertise and commitment to meet the medical needs of people in crisis. They are doctors, nurses, logistics experts, administrators, epidemiologists and a lot of others whose work is guided by humanitarian principles and medical ethics. Doctors Without Borders was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1999 for their selfless work while providing humanitarian aid to people around the world.
