It is called Brinsworth, a village of less than 9000 inhabitants near Sheffield in Yorkshire. For years the locals have complained of a great stench, so intense that they can’t even open the windows and the children refuse to go outside to play.
Even the cars passing by the village have to close all the windows. Those familiar with the area close their windows well before arriving in Brinsworth.
The problem has existed for years but it is intermittent, at certain times it is better than others. If someone accidentally keeps the window open, the house then stinks for days and there is no way to make the smell disappear.
It is not clear where it comes from in all these years no one has ever been able to give an answer. For the inhabitants, the stench is stressful, it seems like a minor problem but in reality it limits a lot what they can do outdoors. You don’t want to go out and play soccer or have a picnic with this stink.
Ben & Jerry have launched an ice cream for dogs
Now your dog doesn’t have to look at you with envy while your are eating your ice cream and you don’t have to feel guilty. Ben & Jerry have launched two flavours for their new line of ice cream for dogs:Pontch’s Mix and Rosie’s Batch, both names after two employees dogs.
Ben & Jerry started in 1978 founded by Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield allows dogs in the office and therefore they play a big role in this company.
Pontch’s Mix has peanut butter and pretzel while Rosie’s Batch has pumpkin and mini cookies. As dogs are lactose intolerant these ice cream don’t contain dairy products but use sunflower butter which is easily digested by our canine friends. The recipes were created with the help of vets and experts in dogs nutrition.
Unfortunately for the time being these dogs treats are only available in the US but hopefully they might come to delight British dogs soon.
What is the Kindle Challenge and how to take part in it?
The Kindle Challenge is a new initiative by Amazon to encourage people to buy and read Kindle books, it’s an interesting concept that Kobo started years ago but then abandoned.
Basically every month there will be some challenges and you will need to take part and complete them to gain badges. You can also earn credits to buy Kindle Books. The challenges so far has been easy like reading a book, buying a book or subscribing to Kindle Unlimited.
There is obviously a large marketing element but the Kindle Challenge can be fun for users by gamifying the experience users can be motivated to read more.
How do I take part in the Kindle Challenge?
So far it is at a kind of pilot stage and you must have an invitation, there will be more invites sent in the next few months. Sadly you must live in the United States to take part for the time being. The Challenge might be extended to other countries in future, although there are no details yet.
Online exhibition of Fantastic Beasts by the Natural History Museum
As we are not able to go to the Natural History Museum we can at least visit the Fantastic Beasts virtual exhibition thanks to Google Arts & Culture.
It must be said that despite everything this virtual version is quite interesting. There are different things to watch, strange animals to discover and different activities suitable for all ages.
There are articles about weird animals that look great but really exist, about conservation, about legends, There are fantastic animals to color, a quiz and you can create your own fantastic animals too.
We also find a gallery dedicated to the history of mythological animals and a puzzle. In conclusion, it is really worth taking a virtual trip to this exhibition at the Natural History Museum in London.
